About Course

Lead scientists:  QPic Team & Prof Bob Coecke

Schedule: Weekly live tutorials over 8 weeks, starting 21 March 2026

To accommodate participants across different time zones, we’ll offer two live sessions each week:

Morning session: 10:00 am (GMT)

Afternoon session: 18:00 pm (GMT)

Step into the future of the quantum world with Neurossance’s signature Quantum Picturalism course —an accessible yet academically rigorous pathway that transforms how learners at all levels understand and apply quantum theory.

🔹Who is this course for

Designed for innovators, educators, strategists, and emerging quantum talent, this pathway bridges deep conceptual clarity with strategic real-world application, empowering participants to think, design, and forecast using quantum principles.

🔹Oxford-Rooted Excellence

QPic is grounded in ZX-calculus, built on Oxford-based R&D and directly connected to ongoing postgraduate teaching as a powerful form of diagrammatic reasoning in quantum computation.

  • Developed through over two decades of pioneering research at the University of Oxford
  • Grounded in Categorical Quantum Mechanics and the ZX-calculus

🔹 Industry Use Cases

Major quantum computing companies —such as Google, PsiQuantum, Quantinuum—actively use ZX-calculus to design, optimise, and verify quantum algorithms. Its applications span quantum circuit optimisation, quantum error correction, measurement-based quantum computing, quantum simulation, quantum foundations, quantum art, and quantum natural language processing.

🔹 Academic Domain

In academia, the category-theoretic foundations of QPic are used across linguistics, computer science, machine learning, electronics, game theory, and control theory.

Why Quantum in Pictures?

A transformative, experimentally proven framework for Quantum Education

Quantum physics is often seen as strange, abstract, and accessible only to scientists with advanced mathematical training. But what if we could explore the quantum world using a diagram-based intuitive form of mathematics?

This is exactly what ZX-calculus enables. Originally developed by University of Oxford professors to describe tensors (a mathematical framework widely used in engineering, computing, and quantum technologies), ZX-calculus has been proven complete for pure qubit quantum mechanics. This means that any valid equality in the formalism can be derived using its graphical rules -no heavy algebra required.

Implemented in 12 countries, crossing language barriers
